The Journey, Part 6
During the final days of the house’s sale, things began to grow worse and worse at the job God had given my dad. This was the job that had brought us to the area and was our main reason for staying. However, with the sale of the house in the state we had left, we were now fully committed to living in the new state that the Lord had brought us to.
Nonetheless, my dad’s new employers were growing more and more demanding, and the work environment was becoming very toxic. His co-workers seemed to be working against him, and his superiors continually invented reasons to enforce vague disciplinary measures. While nothing specifically damaging happened, it was psychologically abusive and traumatic.
People were going behind my dad’s back at work, and he was being demanded to work longer hours than he had originally planned for. Some co-workers tried to sabotage some of my dad’s jobs, and to make matters worse, it was becoming more evident by the day that a medical condition he had was being negatively affected by the work stress.
It all came to a head one day when my dad decided that he had had enough. He went to work and informed his superiors that he would no longer endure their psychological abuse and over-the-top demands. They were actually surprised that he felt this way and immediately accepted his resignation.
This decision to leave was necessary, but it launched a new chapter in our journey as we entered the wilderness.
