My long term prayer, which I still believe will one day be answered, is to find that special person who we were intended to share this life with and makes us whole. I believe those "Harry met Sally" life changing types are real but for most they remain out of reach. For reasons ranging from fear of being alone or lacking self-esteem or listening to those family members that are charged to love, care and want nothing but the best for us. In most cases (like mine) they subconsciously have hindered our chances of "not settling" by leaving with us an audible loop running in the background of reasons from childhood including a runnIng record of our faults, our perceived shortcomings of why we will never be this, or will never be able to have that or being told we are not good enough because of bla, bla, bla. This line of thought was bourne from reflecting own my life's experiences. This moment of clarity came after a life altering motorcycle accident.
If we do not "settle" out of the reasons I previously mentioned then our "Harry Met Sally" moment is allowed to continue live and remain possible whether together or a world apart shared only if thru correspondence. (By the way, I know I am a guy but "Harry Met Sally" is one of my favorites..so give me a break! lol)
I personally believe love can be felt, given and shared not only physically but by selfless sacrifice, a knowing look or even by a seemingly innocent touch.
I also believe that the power of love is not only found in the physical sense of a daily relationship, but if said relationship not possible due to circumstance, then that same magical transforming power (love) will also be found and just as magical in not only the spoken word but the written word also.
I have decided to take back my right to not settle. My adventure is just beginning and apenpals.com is but one avenue to finding my "Sally." I believe this is possible, just as rewarding, fulfililng and magical if only armed with the power of the mighty pen (keyboard lol) and the magic of the written word. Words written with feelings and love are powerful enough to convey a look, a touch, and comfort. They can satisfy the longing and hunger of a lustful heart.
Lastly, but no less important, the written word will still lay a solid foundation (in the absence of a daily relationship) for friendships of the strength required to withstand the test of time. Which leads to my greatest of self-discoveries: Friendships built on this type of solid foundation is the fertile ground where we each my find our "Harry's" and "Sally's."
