wanna travel to China?
Chengdu, my hometown, the capital of Sichuan Province, is a vibrant city that blends time-honored traditions with modern convenience, boasting unique charms in food, scenery, lifestyle, climate and public security.
Famous as the hometown of Sichuan cuisine, it offers a rich variety of mouthwatering delicacies. Sichuan hot pot, with its spicy and numbing broth, is a must-try, along with classic dishes like Mapo Tofu and Kung Pao Chicken. Besides these iconic dishes, the city is dotted with street snacks such as Dan Dan Noodles and Zhong Dumplings, satisfying every food lover’s taste buds.
In terms of natural scenery, Chengdu is surrounded by picturesque landscapes. Dujiangyan Irrigation System, a world cultural heritage site with a history of over 2,000 years, not only showcases ancient Chinese wisdom but also features beautiful water views and lush greenery. Mount Qingcheng, a renowned Taoist mountain nearby, is famous for its serene forests and misty peaks. Within the city, parks like People's Park offer a peaceful retreat, where locals enjoy tea-drinking and mahjong, a typical slow-life scene of Chengdu.
Modern urban life in Chengdu is incredibly convenient. The city has a well-developed transportation network, including an extensive metro system, shared bikes and convenient ride-hailing services, making travel around the city effortless. It is also a hub for shopping and entertainment, with numerous shopping malls, trendy pedestrian streets and various cultural and recreational venues. In addition, the city leads in smart city construction, with cashless payment widely used in daily life—from buying breakfast at street stalls to paying utility bills, everything can be done with a mobile phone.
Chengdu enjoys a pleasant climate all year round. It has mild winters without severe cold and cool summers without extreme heat, with four distinct seasons and abundant rainfall, making the city green and lush throughout the year. The comfortable weather makes it a great place for both living and traveling.
What’s more, Chengdu has an excellent public security environment. The city has a sound public security system and high safety awareness among residents, with low crime rates. Whether walking on the street at night or traveling in remote areas of the city, people can feel a strong sense of safety, which makes it one of the most livable cities in China.
In short, Chengdu is a city that allows people to enjoy delicious food, appreciate beautiful scenery, live a convenient modern life, and feel the comfort of pleasant weather and the peace of a safe environment—truly a city where you can slow down and savor life.
